“Those who wish to sing, always find a song.”
Sometimes gifts come in pairs. While Melissa Hoover Connor works as a prominent landscape designer by day, she moonlights on stages as an accomplished vocalist by night.
“Misty Connor,” as she is known throughout the Central Ohio music community, is a classical alto with a background in musical theater. The range of her voice has been compared with the smokiness of Linda Ronstadt and the angelic, emotional clarity of Karen Carpenter.
Misty’s repertoire is vast and covers every genre from pop to country. Her greatest music love, however, is jazz. She focuses on the Great American Song Book, covering beloved works of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and George Gershwin.
Misty’s singing career launched when she began performing with the Millersport Community Theater while still in high school– a role she still enjoys today. She later went on to sing old-time sounds with the 18-piece big band group, the Nostalgics, and can currently be found fronting the renown Schubach Big Band.
With a knack for improvisation, Misty is more than a vocalist. She’s an entertainer. As part of the newly-formed “Girlfriends in Therapy” ensemble, she and two friends combine a repertoire of light-hearted songs with fun and touching stories about growing up together in a small town. This act is sure to make audiences smile, tap their toes, and sing along.
Misty is available as a guest artist for bands in the Central Ohio region. If you would like her lovely voice to grace your next swing dance, private party, or small club stage, please connect with her using our contact form.
